Holding My Breath until the Wedding
Another wedding. I cannot escape!!! I have been preparing for a super-road-trip tomorrow with Amber-wonderful-Lee, and I am looking forward to a change of scenery! My dad will be wed this weekend. This looks to be an interesting weekend that I probably will not forget for a long time.
We leave at seven in the morning, so I have been seriously budgeting my time. This morning, I taught aerobics at 5:30 am (AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!), and by 8:30 I had successfully drained an entire can of Acrylic Crystal Clear on my drawing. The process I chose for this project was an oil paint wash system with Acrylic Crystal Clear layers between each wash. For all of you non-artists, this is the same process that I used on "The Frog Prince." (click on title link to view)
I plan to work the rest of the afternoon on the drawing (if I don't fall over from holding my breath/inhaling the mineral spirits/aerosol can fumes!) We art people always say that fumes must be the reason why college-level art people tend to have poor math skills. Ha!
About mid-morning, I couldn't help but peel up a little corner of the painter's tape to expose the clean white surface next to the drawing. An overwhelming wonderful feeling came over me. I love the way the whiteboard stands in contrast to the saturated colors. Some people say I am easily amused. :D Oh, well.
This whole, hopeful process is a great workout for developing a tolerance towards delayed gratification!
Peace like a river!

YAY! Road trip! Talk about a true bonding experience. I think it will be great, though, considering we have survived road trips before. :) Your drawing sounds like too much fun. Watch out for those fumes, though. I don't want to have to do ALL the driving to Missouri! (haha)
I hope you girls have a great trip. I'll be praying about ya'll. So I asked my mom to eat lunch with me on monday at Ann's Tai Kitchen and here was her email response (she's so funny): Yes - let me treat you Monday to a place I have never gone to before and do
not know if I even like. I told her if she doesn't like it I would buy her a scone to wash it down with---but we all know she is going to love it! Talk to you soon!
